You’re not remodeling your bathroom just to make it look nice. You want fixtures that don’t leak, water pressure that actually works, and a layout that makes sense for how you live.
When the plumbing side of your bathroom renovation is handled correctly from the start, you avoid the callbacks, the hidden leaks, and the “we need to open that wall back up” conversations three months later. You get hot water where you need it, drains that clear fast, and fixtures installed to code so there’s no issue when it’s time to sell.
In Rockledge, that also means accounting for Florida’s humidity, older cast iron pipes if your home was built before the mid-70s, and making sure your new vanity plumbing or shower installation can handle the water quality and pressure in Brevard County. It’s not complicated, but it does require someone who knows what they’re doing.
Drain Wizard is a family-owned plumbing company that’s been serving Rockledge and the rest of Brevard County for nearly two decades. We’re not a franchise. We’re local, licensed (CFC#1428379), and we’ve seen just about every plumbing surprise a bathroom remodel can throw at you.
Our team has over 40 years of combined plumbing experience, and we’ve worked on everything from small fixture swaps to full gut jobs in older Florida homes. We know what’s behind your walls because we’ve opened enough of them. And we know how to do the work right the first time so you’re not dealing with problems later.
If you’re in Rockledge, Cocoa, Merritt Island, or anywhere on the Space Coast, we’re the team handling the plumbing that makes your bathroom renovation actually work.
First, we come out and look at what you’re working with. If you’re doing a tub-to-shower conversion or moving a vanity, we need to see the existing plumbing, check for cast iron that needs replacing, and figure out what’s involved in getting your new layout to work. We’ll give you a clear quote with no surprises.
Once the demo is done, we rough in the new plumbing. That means running new water lines, relocating drains if needed, and doing any pipe rerouting services to match your new bathroom layout. If your home has older pipes, we’ll replace what needs replacing so you’re not building a new bathroom on top of failing plumbing.
After rough-in is inspected and approved, we install your fixtures—shower valves, tub drains, vanity plumbing, toilets, whatever’s part of the remodel. Everything gets tested, everything gets checked, and you’re left with a bathroom that works the way it should from day one.
Ready to get started?
Bathroom remodeling plumbing covers everything from the water coming in to the waste going out. That includes bathroom fixture installation for sinks, toilets, tubs, and showers. It includes vanity plumbing if you’re upgrading to a double sink or moving things around. And it includes all the pipe rerouting services needed when your new layout doesn’t match the old one.
In Rockledge and Brevard County, we also deal with a lot of cast iron pipe replacement. If your home was built before 1975, there’s a good chance you’ve got cast iron drain lines that are corroded, cracked, or ready to fail. We replace those with modern PVC so your new bathroom isn’t sitting on top of a ticking time bomb.
We also handle the waterproofing prep for your tile installer, make sure your shower valve is set to the right depth, and coordinate with your contractor so the plumbing doesn’t hold up the rest of the job. You’re getting a complete plumbing system that’s built to last in Florida’s climate—not just something that passes inspection.
The plumbing rough-in usually takes one to two days depending on how much we’re changing. If you’re just swapping fixtures in the same spots, it’s faster. If we’re relocating a toilet, adding a second sink, or doing a full tub-to-shower conversion with new drain lines, it takes longer.
After rough-in, there’s an inspection. Once that clears, we come back for fixture installation, which is typically another day or two depending on what’s going in. The key is coordination—if your contractor’s schedule is tight, we make sure the plumbing doesn’t become the bottleneck.
In older Rockledge homes, we sometimes find cast iron that needs replacing once the walls are open. That can add a day or two, but it’s better to handle it now than deal with a collapsed drain line six months after your remodel is done.
Not always, but it depends on what’s already there. If your home was built before 1975 and still has cast iron drain lines, you should replace them. Cast iron corrodes from the inside out, and Florida’s soil and water speed that up. Once we open the walls, we can see what condition they’re in.
For supply lines, if you’ve got old galvanized pipes, we recommend replacing those too. They restrict water flow as they corrode, which means weak pressure at your new fixtures. Copper or PEX is the way to go for supply lines in a remodel.
If your plumbing is newer and in good shape, we’ll work with what’s there. But if we’re already opening walls and moving things around, it makes sense to upgrade anything that’s going to fail in the next few years. You don’t want to open those walls twice.
Yes. A lot of homeowners in Brevard County do their own tile, paint, and demo, then bring us in for the plumbing. That’s fine—we’ll rough in your new lines, get the inspection done, and come back to install fixtures once you’re ready.
Just know that plumbing work in Florida requires a licensed plumber and a permit for anything beyond basic fixture swaps. If you’re moving drains, adding a shower, or doing any pipe rerouting, it has to be inspected. We handle all of that so you’re not stuck dealing with the county.
We’ll also coordinate with you on timing. If you’re doing the work in stages, we can rough in early and come back later for fixtures. Just don’t tile over anything until the rough-in passes inspection, or you’ll be ripping tile out to fix it.
First, we remove the old tub and demo the surrounding plumbing. Then we relocate the drain to match your new shower pan location—most tubs and showers don’t share the same drain spot. That means cutting into the slab or floor joists depending on your home’s construction and running a new drain line.
We also install a new shower valve, typically in a different location than your old tub valve. If you’re adding body jets, a rain head, or multiple shower functions, we’ll run additional supply lines and install the valves to control them. Everything gets pressure tested before we close the walls.
In Rockledge, we also make sure your shower drain is properly sloped and that the waterproofing layer is prepped correctly for your tile installer. A walk-in shower is only as good as the plumbing and waterproofing underneath it. Get that wrong, and you’re looking at leaks, mold, and expensive repairs down the line.
Yes. Any time we’re doing more than a basic fixture swap—like moving a toilet, adding a shower, running new drain lines, or doing pipe rerouting—we pull a permit with Brevard County. It’s required by code, and it protects you as the homeowner.
The permit process includes a rough-in inspection before we close up the walls and sometimes a final inspection after fixtures are installed. We handle all of that. You don’t have to call the county or schedule anything. We make sure the work is done to code and passes inspection the first time.
Skipping permits might save a few bucks up front, but it’ll cost you later when you go to sell and the buyer’s inspector finds unpermitted plumbing work. It’s not worth the risk, and it’s not how we operate.
It depends on what you’re doing. A basic fixture swap—new toilet, vanity, and shower head—might run $1,500 to $3,000 in labor and materials. A full bathroom remodel with relocated drains, new supply lines, cast iron replacement, and multiple fixtures is going to be closer to $5,000 to $10,000 or more, depending on the scope.
If we find cast iron that needs replacing or outdated galvanized pipes, that adds cost. But it’s better to handle it now while the walls are already open. Tub-to-shower conversions typically run $2,500 to $5,000 for the plumbing side, depending on how much drain work is involved.
We give you a clear quote up front after we see what we’re working with. No surprises, no padding the bill later. You’ll know what the plumbing is going to cost before we start the job.
