You stop worrying about backups during dinner parties. The kitchen sink drains like it should. Showers don’t turn into ankle-deep pools halfway through.
That’s what proper drain cleaning does. It removes the grease, hair, soap buildup, and tree roots that slow everything down. Not just temporarily—completely.
Most people wait until there’s standing water or a smell they can’t ignore. By then, a simple clog has become a bigger problem. Getting your drains cleaned before that happens means you avoid the emergency call, the weekend rates, and the stress of wondering if your pipes are about to fail when you have a house full of guests.
You get your time back. Your plumbing works the way it’s supposed to. And you’re not dealing with the same clog three months later because someone just pushed it further down the line.
Drain Wizard is a family-owned business serving Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island, Melbourne, and the surrounding Space Coast. We’ve been here since 2007, and our lead plumber is a State Certified Master Plumber with over 40 years of combined experience.
We’re also military veterans with more than 20 years of service. That background shows up in how we work: on time, transparent pricing, no surprises.
Cocoa Beach has its own plumbing challenges. The salt air corrodes pipes faster. Older homes have cast iron systems that weren’t built for modern use. Humidity accelerates buildup. We’ve seen it all, and we know how to fix it without overselling you on work you don’t need.
First, we show up when we say we will. You explain what’s going on—slow drain, gurgling sounds, bad smell, whatever it is.
We assess the situation. Sometimes that means running a camera through the line to see exactly what’s blocking it. Tree roots look different than grease buildup, and the solution changes depending on what we find.
For most clogs, we use a drain snake or auger to break through and clear the blockage. For tougher jobs—grease, roots, or years of buildup—we use hydro jetting. That’s high-pressure water that cleans the pipe completely, not just pokes a hole through the clog.
Before we start any work, you’ll know what it costs. No surprises, no upselling. Once the job’s done, we test the line to make sure everything flows properly. Then we clean up and get out of your way.
Ready to get started?
You’re getting a State Certified Master Plumber who knows the difference between a quick fix and a real solution. You’re getting drain cleaning methods that match the problem—not a one-size-fits-all approach.
We handle kitchen sinks clogged with grease and food buildup. Bathroom drains slowed by hair and soap scum. Main line blockages caused by tree roots or aging cast iron pipes. Laundry drains backing up from lint and detergent residue.
In Cocoa Beach, we see a lot of older homes where the plumbing wasn’t designed for modern water use. Add in the coastal humidity and salt air, and you’ve got pipes that corrode faster and clog more often. We account for that. Our hydro jetting service clears out buildup without damaging older pipes, and we’ll tell you honestly if a pipe needs more than just cleaning.
You also get upfront pricing, same-day service when possible, and someone who lives and works in this area. We’re not a national franchise. We’re local, and we’ll be here next year when you need us again.
Most drain cleaning jobs in Cocoa Beach run between $150 and $400, depending on what’s causing the clog and where it’s located. A simple kitchen sink clog costs less than a main sewer line blockage.
If we need to use hydro jetting for tree roots or heavy grease buildup, that’s typically more than a standard snake job. But we’ll tell you the cost before we start, so there’s no surprise when we hand you the bill.
Some companies charge extra for nights, weekends, or holidays. We don’t. The price is the price, regardless of when your drain decides to back up. If you want a camera inspection to see exactly what’s going on inside the pipe, we can do that too—and we’ll show you the footage so you understand what you’re paying to fix.
Snaking (or augering) uses a metal cable to break through a clog and restore flow. It works well for hair, paper, and minor blockages. It’s faster and costs less, but it doesn’t clean the pipe walls—it just clears a path through the clog.
Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water (up to 4,000 PSI) to scour the inside of the pipe clean. It removes grease, scale, roots, and buildup that snaking leaves behind. It’s more thorough, lasts longer, and prevents clogs from coming back as quickly.
We use snaking for straightforward clogs where you just need the drain flowing again. We use hydro jetting when there’s heavy buildup, recurring clogs, or tree roots involved. If you’ve had the same drain clog three times in six months, hydro jetting is probably the better move. We’ll recommend what makes sense for your situation—not what makes us the most money.
For most homes, once a year is enough to prevent major problems. If you have older pipes, a large family, or a lot of trees near your sewer line, you might need it more often—every six months or so.
Commercial kitchens and high-traffic properties should be on a more frequent schedule. Grease builds up fast, and a clogged drain in a restaurant can shut you down for hours.
You’ll know it’s time when drains start slowing down, you hear gurgling sounds, or you notice smells coming from the sink or shower. Those are early warnings. Catching them early means you avoid the full backup and the emergency service call.
In Cocoa Beach, the coastal environment speeds up corrosion and buildup. Homes built in the ’60s through ’80s often have cast iron pipes that are already dealing with decades of wear. Regular cleaning extends the life of those pipes and keeps small issues from turning into expensive repairs.
Yes. Tree roots are one of the most common causes of main line blockages, especially in older neighborhoods where the pipes have small cracks or loose joints.
Roots grow into the pipe looking for water, and once they’re in, they catch everything that flows past—toilet paper, grease, debris. Eventually, the line backs up completely.
We use hydro jetting to cut through the roots and clear the pipe. For recurring root problems, we can also recommend options like root treatment or pipe lining to prevent them from coming back. In some cases, if the pipe is too damaged, a section might need to be replaced. We’ll inspect the line with a camera first so you know exactly what you’re dealing with before we start any work.
Yes, in most cases. If you call in the morning, we can usually get someone out the same day. Even for afternoon calls, we do our best to fit you in—especially if it’s an emergency.
Drain backups don’t wait for convenient times. They happen during holiday dinners, right before guests arrive, or in the middle of a work week when you can’t afford downtime. We get that, and we move fast.
When you call, we’ll give you a realistic timeframe. If we can’t make it same-day, we’ll tell you upfront and schedule the soonest available slot. We don’t leave you guessing or waiting by the phone. And once we’re scheduled, we show up when we say we will.
They can, especially with repeated use. Most store-bought drain cleaners use harsh chemicals that generate heat to dissolve clogs. That heat can weaken older pipes, especially if they’re already corroded or made of PVC.
They also don’t work on all types of clogs. Tree roots, grease buildup, and solid obstructions won’t budge with chemicals. You end up with a pipe full of caustic liquid and a clog that’s still there.
If you’ve already used a chemical cleaner and it didn’t work, let us know before we start. We need to take extra precautions so no one gets hurt when we open the line. The better move is to skip the chemicals and call a plumber who can actually clear the clog without risking your pipes or your safety.
