You’re not running out of hot water mid-shower because sediment ate up half your tank capacity. Your utility bills aren’t climbing every month because your system’s working twice as hard to heat the same amount of water. And you’re not dealing with water damage from a leak you didn’t catch in time.
That’s what happens when your water heater is installed right and maintained properly. In Rockwell and across Brevard County, Florida’s mineral-rich water accelerates wear faster than almost anywhere else. Calcium and magnesium build up inside the tank, creating a barrier between the heat source and the water itself. Your system overheats trying to compensate, components fail early, and suddenly you’re looking at a cold shower or worse—a flooded laundry room.
We install Bradford White water heaters because they’re built to handle this. Better materials, better design, longer lifespan. And when we do the installation, it’s done to code, done efficiently, and done so it actually works the way it should from day one.
We’ve been serving Brevard County since 2007. We’re based in Cocoa, and we’ve been in enough Rockwell homes to know exactly what goes wrong with water heaters here—and how to prevent it.
Carl, our Master Plumber, started at 16 and spent decades learning the trade before opening Drain Wizard. That means you’re not getting a technician reading from a script. You’re getting someone who understands how Florida’s climate, water quality, and building codes affect your plumbing. We’re licensed, insured, and we don’t overcharge or oversell. Just honest work that holds up.
First, we come out and give you a free quote. No pressure, no obligation. We’ll look at your current setup, talk through what’s failing or what you’re dealing with, and recommend the right size and type of water heater for your home and usage.
Once you’re ready to move forward, we schedule the installation—usually next day. We remove the old unit, handle all the disconnections safely, and install the new Bradford White system. That includes proper venting, code-compliant connections, and making sure everything is sealed and secure. The whole job typically takes about an hour, and we clean up after ourselves.
After installation, we walk you through basic maintenance tips and answer any questions. We’re not disappearing the second the job’s done. If something comes up later, we’re a local call away—not a national hotline that transfers you three times before someone maybe helps.

We handle water heater installation, repair, and replacement throughout Rockwell and the Space Coast. That means traditional tank systems and tankless options, depending on what makes sense for your home. We install Bradford White units specifically because they outperform the competition in Florida conditions—better corrosion resistance, better efficiency, better longevity.
If your current system is leaking, making noise, or just not keeping up with demand, we’ll diagnose the issue honestly. Sometimes a repair makes sense. Often, especially with units over 10 years old in this area, replacement is the smarter move. Florida’s hard water shortens the typical lifespan, and trying to band-aid an old system usually costs more in the long run.
We also offer a 5% senior discount, free quotes on every job, and transparent pricing before any work starts. No surprises, no upselling, no games. Just the service, the equipment, and the expertise to make sure your hot water situation is handled right.
Most water heaters are rated for 8 to 12 years, but in Rockwell and Brevard County, you’re often looking at the lower end of that range. Florida’s water is loaded with calcium and magnesium, which means sediment builds up faster inside the tank. That sediment acts like insulation between the heating element and the water, forcing your system to work harder and wear out sooner.
If your water heater is over 8 years old and you’re noticing slower recovery times, strange noises, or rusty water, it’s time to start planning for replacement. Waiting until it fails completely usually means dealing with water damage on top of the replacement cost.
Regular maintenance—like flushing the tank annually—can help extend the life a bit. But even with maintenance, Florida conditions are tough on these systems. Installing a quality unit like Bradford White from the start gives you the best shot at reaching that 10 to 12 year mark.
If your water heater is under 6 years old and the issue is something straightforward like a faulty thermostat or heating element, repair usually makes sense. Those are relatively inexpensive fixes that can buy you several more years.
But if your unit is over 8 years old, or if you’re dealing with a leak from the tank itself, replacement is almost always the better call. Tank leaks don’t get fixed—they get worse. And even if you repair one component on an aging system, you’re likely looking at another failure soon after. You end up paying for multiple service calls on a system that’s already near the end of its lifespan.
We’ll always be straight with you about what makes financial sense. If a repair will genuinely solve the problem and give you a few more good years, we’ll tell you. If you’re throwing money at a losing battle, we’ll tell you that too. No upselling, just honest guidance based on what we’d do in our own homes.
It depends on how many people live in your home and your hot water usage patterns. A typical household of 2 to 3 people usually does fine with a 40 to 50 gallon tank. Families of 4 or more often need 50 to 80 gallons, especially if you’re running multiple showers, a dishwasher, and laundry simultaneously.
Tankless water heaters are another option if you want endless hot water and have the space and budget for the installation. They heat water on demand instead of storing it, which means you never run out. But they cost more upfront and require adequate gas supply or electrical capacity, which isn’t always feasible in older Rockwell homes without upgrades.
When we come out for your free quote, we’ll ask about your household size, your daily routines, and any issues you’ve had with your current system. That gives us enough information to recommend the right size and type. Oversizing wastes energy and money. Undersizing leaves you with cold showers. We size it right the first time.
Bradford White builds a better water heater, especially for Florida conditions. Their tanks have superior corrosion resistance, which matters when you’re dealing with Rockwell’s mineral-heavy water and coastal humidity. The components are more durable, the warranty coverage is stronger, and we’ve seen them outlast competitors consistently in real-world installations.
Other brands like AO Smith are fine, but Bradford White’s quality control and engineering are a step above. They’re also not sold at big box stores, which means you’re getting professional-grade equipment installed by licensed plumbers—not a DIY gamble that voids the warranty.
We’ve installed hundreds of water heaters over the years, and Bradford White units simply perform better and last longer in this environment. When we’re putting our name on the work, we want to install equipment we trust. That’s Bradford White every time.
Shut off the water supply to the unit immediately—there’s usually a valve on the cold water line going into the top of the tank. Then turn off the power (flip the breaker if it’s electric) or the gas supply (turn the valve to “off” if it’s gas). This stops more water from entering the tank and prevents potential safety issues.
Next, start mopping up or containing the water if it’s actively pooling. Even a small leak can cause serious damage to flooring, drywall, and anything stored nearby. If the leak is significant, you may need to drain the tank using the drain valve at the bottom—attach a garden hose and run it outside or to a floor drain.
Then call us. We’ll get out there as quickly as possible to assess the damage and talk through your options. Most leaks mean the tank itself has corroded through, which isn’t repairable. We’ll help you get a new unit installed fast—usually next day—so you’re not without hot water any longer than necessary. If it’s after hours, do what you can to contain the water and prevent further damage until we can get there.
We provide next-day service after you accept our free quote, and we’ll do everything we can to get to you quickly if you’re dealing with an urgent situation. While we’re not a 24/7 emergency line, we’re local and responsive—if you call during business hours, we’ll get back to you fast and schedule you as soon as possible.
If your water heater fails after hours, the best thing to do is shut off the water supply and power or gas to the unit to prevent further damage. That buys you time until we can get there. We’ll walk you through those steps over the phone if needed, so you’re not stuck guessing what to do.
Most water heater emergencies in Rockwell involve leaks or complete loss of hot water. Leaks need immediate replacement. No hot water sometimes just needs a new heating element or thermostat, which we can handle quickly. Either way, we’ll diagnose it honestly, quote it fairly, and get it fixed right—not just patched up so it fails again in two weeks.
